Religious Beliefs I Have (Not) ..... [religion; Personal; Short; Inspired By Krishnakumar [aka Kris] Chandrasekar Nair]

Rating: 5.0

Kris, a clever Poet you are indeed,
when I planted the right seed...
in your mind to spur you on..
to write of spirits here and yon.

For what could be God and the Devil?
[God creates and Satan does dishevel? ]
“They” have their uses for us to be sure,
but to believe in either I do demur.

Religion also has its uses, among which ….
is giving men excuses..
to kill, condemn, or take no good action.
It can be WORSE than a large-bowel impaction! !

Give me no religion but Humanitarianism,
to spread good will, and to avoid any schism.
[Now I’ve used three words which I “never” use,
but, when they came to mind, them I’d not refuse! ]

On the chequered chess board of life God and devil do play to break the ice And we humans are just sacrificial pawns To lie unquestioningly dead on cosmic lawns….. I do agree with much of what you say on religion and violence on this planet. If every man seeketh the God within himself/herself rather than associating with a group or community …the divine will definitely oblige……

The visible world is the expression of invisible mind that is rooted deeply in the strength of mind (i.e soul) can't be expressed........ this poem is of course well done amid the synchronized poetic outlooks based on concrete and abstract, though poet inclined concretely here, but not free totally from abstract that provides encourage the poet.......thanks Bri

Enjoyed this light-hearted poem, although I totally believe in God. Religion has given me peace and a freedom of independence I have found nowhere else. You have enough belief to be able to write about it using those three words! Ha Ha Ha! Loved this one, thank you for sharing it. RoseAnn

Religion is the strongest device of social control and we need it. The trouble starts when when one tries to impose his belief on others.

I'm not going through all your poems, Bri, to find out what those 3 words are. Tell me, please.
