Rise The People (Bedroom Tax) Poem by Dave Alan Walker

Rise The People (Bedroom Tax)

Rating: 4.9

Detonation of a time bomb
just waiting
distribution of retribution
of a lawful kind

The people will rise

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The bedroom tax and the council tax are joining
people together, everybody will be in court soon.
If everyone joins together in court it will be
a giant step to get the stupid bedroom tax where
it belongs, in the bin.

It's the poll tax in disguise. People power will get rid of it!

This reminds me of the peasents revolt in1383 which was crushed by King Richard III, and later, the peasents revolt of 1983 under Queen Maggie Thatcher put down by police trunchions. The peasents are always revolting!

Being from the US, I'm not sure of the legislative details, but I think it's a powerful statement of social justice. A hard thing to do in just five lines. Excellent poem.
