Soldier Recruiting [come On God! ].........[an Informal Recruiting Session, Overheard] - Poem by Bri Edwards

I'm sitting in a coffee house,
an outcast from my home.
I brought pen and paper,
and I'll let my mind now roam.

In walk two young men with a.....
third man, still young....but older.
The third man is dressed in camouflage;
he is a U.S. Army soldier.
They sit not far from me, where I......
can hear......much of what they say.
The soldier is pitching that, for a bright future,
the Army is the way......
to go.

and TRAVEL I do hear,
but what I don't hear are the words:
WAR, KILLING, DEATH, ...........and FEAR.
[Well sure not all soldiers get involved directly....
with fighting for a living.
And I know, for many people, military service.....
is considered patriotic giving.]

{I think now they're discussing paintball wars,
practice for wars more real.
Damn it! If God were such a great leader,
why couldn't PEACE, not the Daily Deal? }

    Things not said when trying to sell an idea and there are jobs in the army not directly involved with killing. However the soldier goes on to mention paint ball wars for practice. (Report) Reply

    I don't use to ask people to read me but if you feel like and have time please see my poem peace, lol, had to go through all of my poems to find it . It could complete your saying and it may show of how much I approve and appreciate this truthful poem. Always wondered how is it possible for the youth to be interdicted alcohool and tobaco till 21 but are allowed to hold guns and go to war much earlier? Heart broken for the poor kids, thank you for bringing awareness. (Report) Reply

    Recruiting soldier is another form of employment to earn money! It's a killing business! Your question at the end -why couldn’t PEACE, not the Daily Deal? should kindle thoughts on peace in the minds of men for good! Wish to see that day......! ! ! (Report) Reply

    An excellent write. Witty, cynical and insightful a perfect mix in equal measure. (Report) Reply
