Taj Mahal - Poem by Rajnish Manga

When we look at a lovely woman
We exclaim- She must have been
created by God with all His skills!

When we see a fascinating scene
Blue sky, deep sea or snowy peaks
We exclaim- Is it real or a dream!

When we visit Taj Mahal in Agra
(The epitome of eternal love)
We are spell bound by its charm!

Millions of footfalls have proved
The Taj is more than an edifice
It is the poetry of love in stone!

I was taken aback when someone
asked me- What is it that raves-
marble carvings, walls or graves?

I too had the chance of seeing this architectural marvel and was moved by its splendor! Yes, it is the 'poetry of love in stone'.... Beautiful way of putting it.... almost coming close to our famous poet Tagore's reaction on seeing
Taj Mahal...' 'A teardrop in the cheek of eternity'! Beautiful poem especially the aforesaid line! Top marks!

Taj Mahal is indeed an architectural marvel. Being closer to Agra, I have visited Taj Mahal quite a number of times but my liking for it has not diminished. Further, I feel humbled by your reference to the epitaph used by Gurudev to describe Taj Mahal. Thank you very much, Valsa ji.

That's true about beauty. It cannot be taken for granted for one and all. Sahir Ludhianvi, a renowned Urdu poet, in his Poem 'Taj Mahal' has highlighted the plight of artisans who constructed the Taj but nobody knows about them or their names. Thanks for your kind words, Tom.
