The Essence Of You
I can smell the essence of you
still lingering in the air
where? everywhere!
essence mixed with flashes of memories
from where you stood
where you smiled
where you laid
and stayed a while
I looked at the tea cup
and remembered you sipping tea
I see the napkin in the wastebasket
still damp from your lips
Now..silence
you have left
the quietness seems louder
emptiness swarms in
I look at the phone
and say to myself
I wish
Oh, I wish I can call you
and tell you to come back home
