The Folk Singer (Fr. Gordon Lightfoot 1938-2023) Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

The Folk Singer (Fr. Gordon Lightfoot 1938-2023)

Rating: 5.0

He's gone with his guitar
Strumming along to the heavens
The folk singer that sang
About the Canadian Landscape
Will be remembered in our hearts
For his melodies were full of magic
A voice of a nation--lost
In the midst of the angels
His voice sweet and known
Will echo for eons
So long, Gord
And thanks for memories
As the spotlight dims

Fitting tribute to the great folk-singer, who led decades as a great song-writer too. Who was sung by many singers during his days and thereafter

Great tribute, LeeAnn. 'Sundown' was one of my favorite songs. I also really liked 'Early Morning Rain' and 'If You Could Read My Mind'.

Superb tribute to a legendary folk singer-songwriter. He will be sadly missed. One of the very few who had never sold out. He always remained loyal to Canada...and still became an International Star!
