The Ghost Faced Feeling - Poem by Eric Dale

Distinct in feeling and unique in taste
Everyone knows him and everyone feels him
Being well known, we all know his face
Yet none of us can really put a name

It starts with the knotted stomach
And frequently a violent shake
Nothing can make it disappear
Except to dive right in

Thoughts run more rapid by the minute
And we're usually out of breathe quick
Relentless until the end
Is the only way he plays

Frightened that we're taken over by an unamed feeling
He will win if we let him
Being strong is the only way out now
Who will live and who will survive?
