The Real Face
This darkness, so thick
So deep it seems impenetrable
From near or far, it seems eternal
Like the first love of the teen-age heartbeat
But there are many who see darkness
For what it is, no longer mistaken
About its identity.
We know now the darkness at first hand
It has come unmasked and naked in full view
There's no curtain in between
The spectators know the actors
The sham of the old script
The drag of the dialogue.
We stand by you, the outcast
Firm like a rock lashed by the waves
Still not giving in to the current
Freer in spirit than a free man
You are a surprise to the half-baked theorist.
Darkness is the eternal truth. Light is just a passing fancy. If we can always carry a little lighted candle in this gloom, life becomes meaningful

Embrace the darkness to get through it with insight and wisdom. As always a beautiful poem.
