Towards Earthen Days Poem by Kumarmani Mahakul

Towards Earthen Days

Rating: 5.0

Once upon a time we were living,
Utilizing all earthen utensils,
The flavour of Earth from pot
While we pour water we inhale,
Even today we remember the past.

A journey is started towards
Earthen days motivate mind too,
We remember back the taste of food
Which is cooked in earthen utensils,
It flavours good and healthy also,
Lentil cooked in earthen utensil
It lasts long with falvour and taste,
Rice cooked in such utensil is nice,
Food never loses micro-nutrients,
Such food is rich in vitamins,
For good health today we go back
To the past of days of Earthen utensils,
Pretty utensils are made by potter.

After putting water in pot
Lentil of split pigeon-peas is cooked,
Also rice is cooked in earthen utensil,
With proper care these are served,
On dining table brown utensils sing,
The song of holiness of God we hear.

Rice and lentil are cooked in pot,
These are served in earthen plates,
Two cut pieces of lemon look at us and
In shyness towards two green chilies,
More items including curry ad fry
Very soon these will be served,
Everything is cooked today in pots.

The holy food will give positive vibration,
Offering through mind to our Lord of Universe,
We shall take this with eagerness in love,
Yellow colour and flavour of lentil motivates,
God's grace and power enter within such food,
Like this food, our minds will be of course,
Now we are moving towards Earthen days,
For happiness, prosperity and good health,
Offering prayer to God we glorify his name.

Earth is our source. Earthen utensils are not only healthy they can be reused until they can be returned earth. It is recycling that we relearn again.

We once thought that using earthenware was primitive and unfashionable and we discarded them! Now the nonstick vessels and aluminium utensils are proving to be health hazardous and we are retracing our steps to the time when our grandparents used earthen pots and vessels. They are not only health promoting but enhances the taste too! A beautiful and useful write!

A very informative and fascinating poem. Sometimes food varies in tastes in the kind of utensils we used in cooking. Earthen utensils is made of natural materials. It maybe more useful, more economical and environmental friendly if we can still use this earthen utensils. Well crafted write.10+++

This poem brings back memories of simpler times, happiness with family, preparation and sharing of meals on holidays and special occasions, and caring about how we treat this earth.

Your poem has sharpened my appetite. No doubt food cooked in earthen pots is the best. Lovely graphic to complement the write.
