Sankara's Advaita Vedanta Proclaims
The world to be a creation of ‘Maya'!
On account of ‘Avidya' or ignorance,
The ‘Jeevas' or the individuals,
Imagine themselves as different from Brahman.
‘Maya' and ‘Avidya' are one and the same.
Maya is ‘Ajnana' or ignorance in the individual level,
While ‘Avidya' is falsehood in the cosmic level.
Maya is the cause of all ‘asatya' or untruth,
Maya is the cause of all ‘vikalpa' or misconceptions.
Maya is the cause of all ‘viparyaya' or opposites.
Brahman is Absolute - which does not allow another.
Maya causes the impression of otherness or an illusion,
When actually there is no ‘otherness' at all!
Maya is not a matter or substance.
Maya is the potentiality of Brahman
It emanates from Brahman itself.
Maya has two aspects:
‘Avarna' - concealment of true nature and
‘Vikshepa' - projection of falsehood.
Maya makes the acosmic Brahman appear as cosmic
Maya makes the transcendent appear as phenomenal.
This part of the series explains in simple terms the concept of Maya, why and how it comes into being how it becomes the cause of Asatya, Vikalp and Viparyay which work through the two aspects of Avarna and Vikshepa. The series is progressing quite well. Thanks, Geeta ji. Maya is not a matter or substance. Maya is the potentiality of Brahman It emanates from Brahman itself.
Maya is a term so elusive and difficult to explain, specially through a poem. However, i am trying my best to explain it in such a way that it is comprehensible. Hope the subject progresses smoothly. Thank you so much Rajnish ji for your consistent support through your encouraging comments.
Maya or illusion covers this Earth. Due to influence of this illusion souls forget their real identities and think themselves as human bodies. Illusion makes the acosmic appearance. Soul appears inside body as cosmic energy. A nice informative poem is beautifully penned basing on scriptural values....10
Maya is the influencing potential that chases man to take an illusory path in life. Once a man is lead astray, then it is so difficult to understand the Supreme Reality. Thank you Sir for your generous comment.
