Washing Away My Grief.... Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

Washing Away My Grief....

Rating: 3.9

Wish to wash my sadness away....
(This is not a poem, just her words in her last letter)

Not by monsoons or rain showers,
I'm wet through and through,
I have walked this path of lifelong enough,
hunger for the means of life,
legs too heavy to stand up,

today I realize,
I am tired of living,
no more struggle,
no more hassles,
no more reminders,
no more memories,
if you will come tomorrow,
I am not there anymore,
there is only tea
for you and also for your spouse,
no more visits,
no more requests,
no more candles
to be lighted,
no more cigarettes to get a fire for,
no more pearls to string,
nothing more to spend, nothing more to get,
you are like my own daughter to me,
that I was not allowed to get,
you have kept all my secrets,
you have spared me for my greatest sorrow,
I have no more wishes,
you are like the angel in my dreams,
who always looks for me faithfully,
sweet girl, no tears, tomorrow you will come to visit me again, then I have forever gone....

Yesterday Mrs. P. has told me as I have reported above
may she rest in peace, Mrs. P. has no family....
May God be with her….

Sylvia, you are fondly remembered as a true friend in whom a miserable soul could always derive comfort and support! Her last words reveal the depth of gratitude she has for you! We may not be able to do great things for another person, but we can be a good listener when someone unburdens his/ her heart. Also a confidant! I suppose you did that for her. With you, I too pray.... 'May her soul rest in peace'!

Bless your heart, Sylvia. You have given happiness to a lonely soul even if it is just for a period of time. The kindness you have given and shown to her had gone a long way. You made her happy by the care and love you have shown. You are indeed a woman of faith and a child of God. Your acts and words are in unity with God. Such a noble endeavor. You are indeed a blessing. Thank you for your kindness. Very uplifting poem. Onto my Poem List.

What a touching story. It pinched the heart and made me cry. So poignant. Yes, life may be meaningless to those who are so alone. Yet, when we are with God, we could never be alone.
