Whole-Hearted Love - Poem by Stephanie Hazle

Love the Lord with all your heart
Said a wise woman of old
But how can I love wholly, I asked,
With a heart that isn't whole?

She smiled and looked up
As if reminiscing on times passed
Every little broken heart, she said,
Will surely mend at last

Be grateful for every day
Start by just being you
You can read and cry, and play
Do all the things you love to do

Slowly but surely
My dear, you will heal
And even as you grieve at times
Little secrets will the Lord reveal

Eventually you will find
As you spend with Him more time
That weight of brokenness you once felt
Begins to finally subside

Soon, my love, your heart will be whole
And you will be ready to fly!
To soar on wings of strength and courage
To love faster than the twinkling of an eye.

Hmmm...one of the mysteries of life indeed, to proceed on into the depths of the very journey in which we have already been wounded and scarred. The question might be asked, will we ever be whole, when so many new chapters of life bring their own new injuries, disappointments and betrayals? Then comes the wisdom of the elder, to fix your perspective on something higher and greater, while not ignoring the beauty of each moment.

    Honestly and transparently crafted.

It is true, we can often lose hope at the thought of broken-heartedness being ongoing and continuous as we traverse through new relationships and experiences...but as we look to those who have lived and can help us elevate our perspective we find hope lives and surpasses any pain we we will ever face.

Quiet brilliant the catching of such abstract subject. Undoubtedly brilliant. And at least the poet has tried her intelligence to make an solution of such critical problem. I appreciate the mental exercise to put a positive attitude. Really, devotional people random utter the very term Love God with whole heart, use the advise at random. But I feel Heart itself an abstract idea. No one known its original residence in human body. Quiet abstract. But psychologically, a process should start to make oneself believed that God is the container acts as the the source of love and peace. Its simply a practice to make ones ownself hypnotised by this process..... Any way, well played the symphony. Thank you very much........ (Report) Reply

This poem is beautifully written, Stephanie. Keep on writing. We need more of us expressing ourselves. Tell the truth and tell it like it is. This poem was indeed wholeheartedly written. Best of luck, sister! (Report) Reply

Be grateful for every day - for the pain not you
Start by just being you - and that fresh Breath
You can read and cry, and play - You are free on this earth and in his creation
Do all the things you love to do - and just be YOU! !

Amazing poem devoted to the endless faith that one can have for God told through this narrative,
Love the Lord with all your heart / Said a wise woman of old
But how can I love wholly, I asked / With a heart that isn't whole?
Eventually / As you spend with Him more time / your heart will be whole
