Y... The Story Of Why - Poem by Aufie Zophy

There was once a one-year old boy
He was playing with a knife as a toy
He was having a real great time
How nicely did his lovely knife shine

Then came the father, got the surprise of his life.
As fast as he could, he took away the dangerous knife
The boy felt treated unfair and started to cry
His pleasure ended abruptly, he didn't know why

His tiny mind was not developed enough
to understand that it was his father's love
that was the reason why the knife was taken away
No way he'd understand what happened that day

It is also impossible for any of us to understand
the why of a tsunami or sudden death of a friend
we can go as deep as we can, we can try
but we never will reach the true answer to why.

Just our human mind's capacity is far too small
for us to understand the ultimate reason of all
I believe a supreme reason exists for everything
Sometimes we just have to accept what is happening…

    if:
    boy = human
    knife = something dangerous

    and:
    a perfect world = dangerous

    then:
an imperfect world = God is taking away something dangerous from human

    i like this metaphor.
that will be a very suitable representation for a world with some imperfection and very much of love.

    now what about this:
a world with too much of imperfection and suffering (eg war zones, massacres) =? ? ?
    ? ? ? a spoilt child?

and what about heaven? is it perfect (knife++) ? imperfect?
or could heaven be.. just purely neutral (not perfect and not imperfect) , and there's only peace?

or is it just as the saying goes:
hell can be anywhere, when there's hatred and anger.
heaven can be anywhere, when there's love and peace?

since God might be too knowledgeable for us to understand Him,
is it really that important for us to determine in what form does He exist? or even.. whether a person believe in God?
if the almighty God really exist, does He really care that much whether we know Him?
or rather He will hope to know that things that he created will live in peace, love and harmony, taking good care of each other, and are self-sustainable?

Shall we somehow also consider the idea of.. 'hands that help are holier than the lips that pray'?
is God the only reason for us to do good and love others?
or purely the values of doing good, loving are the reason for us to do so?

just some pure speculation of thought from a lay person.

Many thanks for the long comment. I like the reflection and deep thought on these things. I myself as a lay person, think that God is not craving for prayers but if we do pray, we manage to get a bit closer to His wisdom and somehow the ideal of unconditional becomes a bit less of an utopia. That is my belief.

good poem for pondering the question WHY? There are many things in the universe have no answers to questions WHY? Only God know...which beyond human's power and imagination or capacity to find the reasons for every events happen on this earth or in the universe.. (Report) Reply

Enjoyed your poem Aufie. Perhaps at times, we do not have to accept what is happening. As for example, the father changed the knife incident. Perhaps eliminating a danger unknown to the son.The future holds mysteries. (Report) Reply

You are a great poet.. the most difficult thing for a human is to understand that everything happens for some good there is something in God's mind... a very beautiful example, I have no words to tell you what I am feeling.. A great poem. (Report) Reply

Yes there is a reason behind everything and our minds are too small to understand or know the whys..Of course for the nature's happenings we can't say a word, we'd never fight, yet many victims are because of Human stupid pride..the fight for greed or power I would also love to try to end abruptly..Just as you took the knife from treasured kids away I would love to stop the tools that harms our world.. Great poem, I agree with every word thank you for share,10 (Report) Reply

Why oh Why, tinted with beautiful handcraft is Why i am being here to read this Why story...Sometimes why could lead us a way to find an answer, but why and why could lead us away from any answer...it's how we accept the why without why-ing always hahaha..it's true we always think we are big enough to understand, if like you said, a father dont give his son play a knife because of love...will we understand if we wanted something and ask for HIM but we never get it...because He loves us and know more than us...love more than fathers do, coz He create us...to whom want to believe about existence of Him, like i do_Unwritten Soul (Report) Reply
