A Birthday Poem For My Dad (Carmel Azzopardi) Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

A Birthday Poem For My Dad (Carmel Azzopardi)

Rating: 5.0

Tell me Dad, what are you doing in heaven?
Driving Mom crazy?
Talkin' to yr friend, Suitcase
Or fishin' with Jimmy
I miss you Dad
Especially near yr birthday
Every day I sit in the darkness of my mind
And wonder if I could've done something different
But I couldn't think of anything at the time
I can see yr smile in my dreams
And yr voice echoes through them
So, I never forget
I talk about you all the time
The memories that were good
And the bad things I did to you
I hope you forgave me before you perished

I love this poem about your dad. Sounds like the kind of guy I would like to meet. And what a sweet name: Carmel. He was only a handful of years older than I.
