Dear Parley,
I know I only met you once,
yet I feel I know you quite well,
since your grandma is my sister.
You looked so healthy and happy
that day that it's hard to believe
the bad news that you have received.
I know you love to play baseball,
and that's my favorite sport, too.
I was good at batting the ball
and running bases years ago
when I was young. I never had
a strong throwing arm, but I was
very accurate. I hear that
you also like video games.
Some of them are all right, but one
should avoid any that involve
shooting or killing. Violence
becomes ingrained in you and then
you lose all sense of wrong and right.
Video games did not exist
when I was your age. How times change!
Be brave and strong and listen to
your parents and all the doctors,
but most of all, please don't forget
to pray to Heavenly Father
when you are alone or troubled.
He knows you and loves you deeply.
I think He has a plan for you
to remain a bit longer here
on this earth, but if He were to
take you away at eight years old,
then know that He has even more
important work for you Up There.
Death is not to be feared by those
who are faithful in their callings
and you certainly fit the bill.
Love,
Uncle Kim
A heartfelt message for the boy and all of us. Well done!
Kim, so sorry to hear about the little tyke's plight. You have done a marvelous job with this poem, partner! I have given it five stars and will add it to my favorites list. Outstanding work!
Wow! What a poignant poem! Wonderfully crafted! Five stars! To my favorites!
I pray to Almighty to cure your sister's grandson and restore and bestow good health. Yes we fail to understand who is being tested and for what but for sure when we put our full trust in HIM we are relieved from our worries and sufferings.
(2) Thank you, everyone who took the time to pray for him. God does answer prayers.
More than a year later, Parley is living the life of a normal boy, He is currently symptom-free. He was never aware of how deadly his condition was and was never told about this poem written for him.
