''VIVENDO''

Il fuoco è nella foglia e l'erba
sembra così verde -
ogni estate, l'ultima.

Il vento soffia, le foglie
tremano al sole -
ogni giorno, l'ultimo.

Una rossa salamandra
infreddolita e perciò
facile da catturare, come in sogno

muove i piedi delicati
e la lunga coda. Tengo
aperta la mano per lasciarla andare.

Ogni minuto, l'ultimo.

''Living'' - Poem by Denise Levertov

The fire in leaf and grass
so green it seems
each summer the last summer.

The wind blowing, the leaves
shivering in the sun,
each day the last day.

A red salamander
so cold and so
easy to catch, dreamily

moves his delicate feet
and long tail. I hold
my hand open for him to go.

Each minute the last minute.

Saying the truth, I'd prefer saying ''ogni estate, l'ultima'' / ''ogni giorno, l'ultimo'' / ''ogni minuto, l'ultimo''... From my point of view, this way of translating them would make the verse more intense.. mm.. yeah.. I'll probably change the 3 lines.. :)
