Though Albert was a shy, unassuming scientist,
He had the charming ability to connect with people
Through his interesting letters, filled with compelling content.
He made it a habit to write letters to all his dear ones;
Soothing and loving letters to his family,
Sensitive and passionate letters to his women friends,
Sensational theories and discoveries to eminent scientists,
Serene and peaceful letters to pacifists to maintain world peace.
This practice of letter writing, he maintained throughout his life,
It is no surprise, that there is an enormous volume of
His correspondence archived and published by Einstein followers.
During the year of miracles - 1905 - Albert had sent letters
To various journals & scientists highlighting his work.
One such eminent German Scientist with whom he started
An interesting dialogue through letters was the German
Physicist -Dr.Max Planck, the co-editor of Annalen der Physik.
It was Dr. Planck who first made it known to scientists that
‘Radiation Is emitted from objects in small bursts called ‘Quanta.'
Max Planck was already an eminent, senior Physicist,
When young Albert approached him with his research papers.
‘Planck's law, and ‘Planck's constant' were already known to Physicists.
In 1918, Dr. Max Planck, received the Nobel Prize for his outstanding work.
Dr.Einstein's research went beyond Dr. Planck's theories.
Einstein had the guts to challenge Planck through his paper
On ‘Photoelectric Effect' and proving him incorrect.
Even though generally, Einstein agreed with all Planck's ideas,
Yet, he pointed out an error in Planck's theory.
Through logical experiments, Einstein won his point too.
However, Dr, Einstein remained grateful to Max Planck
And acknowledged his support for his ‘Relativity Theory'.
He was thankful to him for informing and alerting
The science fraternity of his creative work and new findings.
Einstein maintained that Max Planck was one of the
‘Finest persons that he had known in his life'.
He remained in touch and close to him, and above all,
Consoled him during his tragic years of two world wars.
Max Planck encountered several tragedies in his life;
After his wife's death in 1909, he lost two sons,
His elder son was killed in 1916, in World War 1,
While his other son was executed during Hitler's time.
In 1917, his daughter passed away during her child birth.
Dr Planck's house was burnt down too, during World War 2.
Dr.Einstein hailed Dr. Max Planck as a science hero and a champion!
Einstein remarked: 'How different and how much better it would be for mankind, If there were more like him.'
