The wind swirls leaves in all directions,
Tumbling them down upon this earth,
Releasing them from their connections,
To inhabit yet another berth.
Layers of them are now descending,
Carpeting the land's cold ground,
Colours meticulously blending,
Burnished copper spread around.
All in their distinct formations,
Each with different hues to see,
Parading now in damp locations,
Drifters off upon a spree.
Autumn's changing shades are warming,
Embroidering a patchwork quilt
Across the open plains transforming,
Embellishing with golden gilt.
The wind swirls leaves in all directions,
Tumbling them down in gentle flight,
Trees then watch for a resurrection
Of the spring's fresh appetite.

All our beautiful fall colors are gone today, and as I drove to the Library, the leaves swirled and danced in the road after my car! Great writing!

This is a warmly painted, elegantly flowing piece about the most hauntingly beautiful season of the year. I love your last two lines in particular. They serve as a perfect cadence to round off the poem. affectionately, Allie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
