Can You Look Down Poem by Ernestine Northover

Can You Look Down

Rating: 5.0

Although you've gone far, far away,
My heart is still in love,
I see you in each sunny day,
And the sparkling stars above.
You'll be forever with me,
I feel your presence still,
Your face, within my mind, I see,
My emptiness to fill.

Though I may sometimes lonely be,
I feel you are around,
Seeing you in a rustling tree,
Or a warm breeze o'er the ground.
You'll constantly be part of me,
In that fact, I do believe,
But you have reached your sanctuary,
And I am left to grieve.

Can love transcend beyond these plains,
And the boundary you've crossed over,
Breaking free from your earthly chains,
And winging to Lord God, Jehovah.
Can you look down and see me here,
A chosen friend, partner, wife,
For whilst my love remains sincere,
Will you still love me in the afterlife!

My dearest, Ernestine, you reached deep inside this ol' hard heart of mine, and melted it to oceans of tears. Very effective in its delicacy. Very powerful. Very, very loving. I am so proud of you, and, in all honesty, with me being very newly in a relationship, I believe you have modeled for me what being a good wife is all about, to the very end of one realm to moving in to another...being in love in the afterlife? Wow. God Bless You, My Dear Sweet Ernestine.500 10's from me.

E; this is deeply humbling, perhaps the most soulful piece I have ever read, from a lady who commands the utmost admiration. The ansewr to your question is, of course, yes. Beautifully composed piece from one beautiful person to a much blessed dearly departed. Love to you, E. t x

Ernestine, I can only imagine how it feels to be in your shoes right now but let me just say you give me hope... hope for that eternal love and for that ''forever'' I always hope for. Love like yours and Anthony is such an inspiration. This poem brought about emotions I try not to think about.....but I thank you for writing it. Anthony would be proud. Love, Mary
