Doordarshan (2)
9th Asian Games of Nineteen Eighty Two
Was a major feat from DD for me & you
It was the beginning of colour television
We watched games live with quality A1
When the games were over we were in
For a bigger surprise and it was genuine
1983 was the year when India had won
Cricket World Cup thru Kapil Dev eleven
1984 saw the beginning of….. Hum Log
It was DD's first soap so much in vogue
‘Hum Log' saw a total of 154 episodes
‘Buniyad' then opened up new inroads
Ramayan & Mahabharat topped TRPs
Which are today the popularity's keys
Just imagine the changes they caused
Roads deserted and meetings paused
When Tv first arrived in my country back in the late 50s, There was only one set in the neighbourhood. All the windows would be crammed with excited faces trying to get a glimpse of this wonder. Even the advertisements were found entertaining! Your lovely couplets took me back to those days, Thank you my friend
Exactly. I can also recall the days when there used to be barely one TV in the entire locality and everyone especially the children were crazy about it. Thanks a lot for your kind words, Dear Koke.
Wow! Humlog and Buniyaad were classic serials which i watched with rapt attention. Thank you Rajnish ji
Thanks a lot, Geeta ji, for your kind words. During those days, I think, Doordarshan was a part of our lives.
Roads deserted and meetings paused. We imagine the various changes of Doordarshan. This did telecast Ramayana and Mahabharata in the past became popular. It was the beginning of colour television. Amazing poem is composed and shared in memory of the past....10
It has been a nostalgic journey down memory lane. Today, we get a surfeit of programs coming our way with no or little impact whereas we can vividly remember quite a good number of programs telecast by Doordarshan decades ago. Thank you, Sir, for sharing your views.
The Ramayan and the Mahabharata- two books really rule the world sir, namaskar.
Namaskar, Gajanan Sir. No two opinions about it. Thanks for sharing your views.
