Earl Stanley Gardner
(July 17,1889 - March 11,1970)
Was a lawyer in California and writer
who worked as a typist with a law firm
For three years and was admitted to bar
In 1911 where he started legal practice
As a defence lawyer, he took up cases
Mostly of Chinese and Maxican clients
who were generally poor and friendless
unjustly accused and implicated there
During this time he also started writing
Detective stories for various magazines
Which became popular owing to their
Brilliant enactment of courtroom drama
His first two novels appeard in 1933
Which were instant Best-sellers
He left his practice to be a full time writer
Till 1940, he brought out about
82 novels with Perry Mason at the center
He authored about 100 novels in all
Some were anchored by other characters
Later, he was involved with TV and movie
Adaptations of Perry Mason stories for years
His interest in the poor and the vulnerable
Sections was lifelong. He became the founder
of an organisation ‘The Court of Last Resort'
in 1940s dedicated to helping all those
who were imprisoned unjustly by the state
