Standing all alone looking up at the sky with no hope,
Stripped of every basic fundamental right,
Starved of food with no clothes or money,
Sad state of farmers in a country
So rich in soil, minerals and tropical climate,
So many promises made by the high and mighty,
So many schemes, plans to help the Indian farmers, yet,
Severely affected, they continue to live a life of devastating apathy.
Indian farmers are continuing to live a life of devastating apathy. This scene is so touchingly delineated by you. The beginning three lines are much impressive. Really a beautiful poem.
a very enlightening poem of the sad situation of Indian farmers who are struggling to survive, yet we live in a world of plenty what has gone wrong? ............well written Geeta.
Thank you Tom for reading this poem and your kind comment.
Condition of farmers is pitiable all over this area, major portion of our budget that should have been appropriated for education and welfare of poor persons, is wasted on making preparations of wars, an offense but we call it defense, what a fun!
The poor farmers are not cared for. I always pray that their situation improves. Thank you Akhtar Sahab for your comment.
It is really a very sad situation in India and in many developing countries. The one who feeds others remains hungry. Many farmers commit suicide out of poverty as their crops fail and they can not pay back bank loans. There is daily news of such cases and there are hot discussions on T.V..But it only raises ratings of T.V.channels and political parties expand their vote bank. And there is zero benefit for farmers
You are absolutely right Bharati. It is a sad situation for farmers in India. Thank you for your realistic comment.
This poem says it all about the situation in developing and underdeveloped countries. Lots of promises made before elections and then it will be back to fleecing the poor after that. Tanks Geeta
Yes Loke! Lots of promises made by politicians specially before election. But only the poor farmer knows that it was empty talk. The farmers in India continue to suffer. Thank you Loke
