Childhood and old age, in many ways alike
But with an antithetical difference
When with time children grow steadier in steps
And clearer in speech, the old become
Staggering in steps and faltering in speech
All things steady would soon No doubt stagger and stoop That is the way of the world Described by you well in words
There's a saying in my language: it is old age that not everybody has experienced but everybody has experienced being a child. Well written aunty Valsa. May God give you more wisdom to educate us the more. Stay blessed...
That describes me. And I become more childlike every day.: -) Thanks for sharing, Valsa. Peace
The difference between childhood and old age has been so clearly and impressively delineated. Beautiful poem. Thanks for sharing.
That's natural, the difference is noted by all of us. Enjoyed the poem.
Old age is like childhood revisited, since the old alike the child need lot of love, care and attention.
I imagined an old lady talking with a toddler, they simply adore children and the children seem to like their interest. This is beautiful Valsa. Kumarmarni has directed me here. You are a treasure.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
is this to be part of your memoir? i MUST read IT! SEND it to me, por favor. and don't forget: As babies 'grow into' training pants from their nappies, octogenarians at times need diapers to catch 'crappies'. NOT the crappies which are small American fishes, but those which get flushed down toilets with swishes. Mary-aka-Bri :) :) p.s. Valsa, did you have to remind us? ?
You are 'terrific' Bri Edwards! ! ! ! In childhood and old age you're a baby Ever drooling over a candy In sixties and eighty May u have gallons of ice cream daily!
