Fruit Is Not Free Poem by Belle Wassermeister

Fruit Is Not Free

Rating: 5.0

Food is NOT always free
if you grab it from a tree.
If the tree belongs to me,
you have stolen it, you see.

I live in apple orchard county and many times fruit is left unharvested on the trees. Am I still steeling if the time of harvest is past and I join the birds in eating a little fruit before it falls to the ground?

As in the 'Garden of Eden', some fruit is best left alone...
