Goodbye To 2020 Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

Goodbye To 2020

Rating: 4.9

Goodbye To 2020
(Ode To The Angels)

I'm lying on an imaginary meadow, green, merry and quiet,
softly I hear the movement of the wind
I focus on something that could come
maybe not,

they wait quietly for their big and small assignments,
when they come along,
it just feels like a gentle breeze
the cedars and lilacs look up,

now while the old year is closing,
my thoughts jump back to my dear mother's tense moments

She told me there had been two very big angels at her foot-end,
they are huge and tall, her bedroom is all lit up,
they left quietly as they had come,

I immediately called my best friend, but she said:
Sylvie, your mother is dying soon,

I don't want to seem ungrateful, but I immediately said:
or is she just going to live longer?

When I first heard that death report,
I was terribly shocked in my heart,
God certainly knew that at the time,
God knows about my lying down and getting up,
and also about my thoughts at the time.

I close the old year with enormous relief and peace of mind.

God has richly blessed me over and over again
and I have told of my miracles.
These are facts and never imaginary
