मुझे तुमसे नफरत है! तुमसे बास आती है!
काश मैं तुम्हें घोल कर सिंक में बहा सकता,
काश, कि कोई बम फटता
और तुम्हारे परखच्चे उड़ा देता.
होम वर्क! ओह, होम वर्क!
तुम्हारे नाम से ही मुझे दौरा पड़ने लगता है.
मेरे टीचर द्वारा
दिए गए होमवर्क के मुकाबले कही ज्यादा आसान होता-
मेरे लिए किसी आदमखोर शार्क के साथ
पानी में नहाना
या किसी अँधेरे जंगल में
शेर के साथ अकेले कुश्ती लड़ना
हरी पालक का साग या जानवर का कलेजा खाना
या दस दस खतरनाक साही पालना.
होम वर्क! ओह, होम वर्क!
मेरी लिस्ट में तुम सबसे अंत में आते हो,
मुझे समझ में नहीं आता
कि आखिर तुम्हारी जरुरत क्या है,
यदि तुम मेरी आँखों से ओझल हो जाओ
तो मेरा चेहरा ख़ुशी से लाल हो जाएगा.
होम वर्क! ओह, होम वर्क!
मुझे तुमसे नफरत है! तुमसे बास आती है!
(साही = एक ऐसा जानवर जिसके शरीर पर लंबे लंबे कांटे होते हैं)

I hate you! You stink!
I wish I could wash you away in the sink,
if only a bomb
would explode you to bits.
Homework! Oh, homework!
You're giving me fits.
I'd rather take baths
with a man-eating shark,
or wrestle a lion
alone in the dark,
eat spinach and liver,
pet ten porcupines,
than tackle the homework,
my teacher assigns.
Homework! Oh, homework!
you're last on my list,
I simple can't see
why you even exist,
if you just disappeared
it would tickle me pink.
Homework! Oh, homework!
I hate you! You stink!
I love this piece of your home work sir. In fact all the kids would definitely like this poem for it relates much to their hearts and in favour of them to hate home work.

An outright honest poem on 'homework'. Its not only the children who would adore this poem, even a senior citizen like me, loves this poem. When i think back about school and homework, this is the exactly the feeling i get. The original poem by Jack Prelutsky and the translation by You, Rajnish ji, are both remarkable for its content and language..........10
