Intruder Poem by Valsa George

Intruder

Rating: 5.0

Grief comes uninvited
Like a thief in the dark
Without pausing to seek permission
Settles in the heart like an intruder

His stay is long and tedious
He eats away our vitality
Sups on our vulnerability
Sucks our life sap
Fattens on our gloom
Like a tenant who hasn't paid
A single dime as rent
He invites our wrath!
Even under threat
He would never vacate

It is at night, he revels
Snubs out our sleep
Disturbs our calm
Wide eyed, we have to watch
The nasty antics of this tyrant

He drives out all hope
Battles with our cheer
Evicts all positive vibes
Invades the entire space

Weaving sticky gossamer threads
To ensnare all happy thoughts
Which come our way
Like an ugly spider,
He arrogantly dwells in our hearts!

You pegged it straight and true. Sorrow and grief are demonic intruders, filleting and eating up the hard-earned peace and hope we have stored in our hearts and souls. There are seasons that they are natural visitors because there are the seasons of death and sore trials but they always want to over-stay and become permanent residents, don't they? Excellent and vivid write, Valsa. 10 is written all over this work! !

Very well-crafted write from your poetic pen. An excellent personification of grief as an intruder who dwells in our hearts uninvited. The title is spot-on. You don't title it grief, you title it intruder...this is so wise n smart. Another poem that speaks volumes about your poetic prowess. A super 10.

This is a perfect description of grief. Beware those guests who may seem dull and unassuming. Indeed, their mere arrival may spell the demise of our well-being. A great poem, Valsa. This is going on my favourites list.

Grief has rarely been so vividly described with fantastic imagery. It was a pleasure reading your poem after a break. If at all there was any grief lurking at the bottom of my heart, it has now fled. Thanks. (10)

Considering grief as an uninvited guest or a tenant who never bothers to pay rent for the lovely house of heart is a nice idea. Who invites griefs but it's part of our life. A wonderful poem.
