Let Your Religion Be A Love Affair - Poem by Dr. Antony Theodore

With all the power of my being
I shall bless God’s holy name.
My soul, do not forget the gifts of God.
- -
God pardons all your iniquities,
redeems you from destruction,
crowns you with kindness and compassion.

God Heals all your sicknesses.
He will not chide you.
He does not deal with you
according to your sins.

God will not remember the sins
Because God is love.
- -
From morning’s first light
to evening’s last star,
always remember
how special you are
because God thinks of you.
-
Let your religion be less of a theory
and more of a love affair.

We need more of your joyous singing of the Lord! This is religious emotion which embraces life and enhances its delights. You do not have any negativity toward people of different beliefs and they may find this emphasis on the celebratory very persuasive. And religions should be models of persuasion instead of force. Blessings my friend, thank you for this wonderful share. The fact that you don't give a name and say simply your religion makes this poem itself a beautiful prayer of peaceful love. (Report)Reply

Echoes so beautifully and lyrically the teaching of the One whose simple instructions were first and foremost, love God and love your neighbor.

A true psalm, my friend. Well done.

    tony,

good to see a poem by you, this contemporary rendering of parts of psalm 103. and your last line is right on. from the perspective of the christian tradition, jesus never underscored the importance of doctrines, though many so-called christians think faith is mainly about mental assent to them. faith is trust in God, which implies relationship- a love affair is a good way to describe it.

if you read this and have the time, i'd like to hear back from you.

may love fill and surround you!

This is absolutely true. God does not consider what religions you belong to and always does what is good for you. We must thank Him for his kindness. He is full of love and compassion. Thanks for sharing. Congrats. (Report)Reply

This poem is very magical and interesting definitely. This blows mind. Taking little time to thank God is nice duty and remembering him ever brings fortune. This is very beautiful.10 (Report)Reply
