We are the prisoners of our own desires
And we are fond of our own built cages
The day we break free of our inner-selves
Is the day we are a step closer to God
The day we break free from the love of this world
Is the day we come closer to the garden of paradise
The day we snap out of these worldly bonds
Is the day our heart is enlightened with God's light
The day we fight with the lust for power
Is the day we are released from the chains of greed
The day the furnace of desires are doused
Is the day we are free from life's seduction
The day we lift the veil of ugliness from our hearts
Is the day we find the enlightened path towards God.

…we are fond of our own built cages. Praise God you have uttered these things for He reveals them and provides the escape! As you say it's a cooperative effort…we must fight for the release. Thank you for directing us a step closer to God! !
The day we break free of our inner-selves Is the day we are a step closer to God....Yes, it's absolutely correct. I most sincerely admire your poetic expression and your style of penning. Top score.

Very true, we are indeed prisoners of our own desires, the more we get the more we want and there is no end to it, self restrain and self containment are forgotten art in this modern world where people are competing with each other for nothing. Thought provoking poem, Aarzoo. Loved it...100+
