Satanic Forces Wait With Glee Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Satanic Forces Wait With Glee

Rating: 5.0

There is nothing but shadows
On this desolate afternoon;
The light of hope
And the flame of compassion
Are no longer seen,
Snuffed out like a candle’s wick
Or a child’s dream.
I don’t know
What anything means,
This groping along ledges
And fearing the ravine,
The knowledge
Of pain and pointlessness.

I’m not wrapped in love
I’m hidden in plain sight
Making my way
Along cruel, unforgiving streets
Where the girls all wear
Dark soul-concealing clothes
And have broken heart tattoos,
Where mistreatment is expected,
Where unprincipled pimps
Take a girl’s rent
And slap her in the deal.
Everyone has lost
The power to feel.

Abstract platitudes
And sublimely-painted poetry
At this moment only annoy me,
I have no confidence
That anything will ever be right
Or return to me a cosmic night
Of jubilant celebration.
Everything just spirals downward
Where satanic forces wait with glee
To carve away at your humanity
With razor-sharp knives of depression
Until your real self is eliminated.

a very powerful poem profound and filled with heartfelt truth each line burning into the brain yet somehow your Real Self survives to give the gift: this wonderful poem

You've written a fine poem, Uriah. The bleakness of our world can indeed beget despair and depression. The evening news mission is to keep us at home in fear and loathing of the world in which the Lord walked amongst those nearest to being lost. Such was that mission and so you have crafted a poem who warns about despair while being its victim. Know sinners are not all lost and not all who wear black & body art are either. Peace & Love. powerful poem, pessimistic but realistic.. I wish things were better than what you describe but that is not always true.. Losing faith in people and yourself will not make things better, there are some angelic forces too! HBH

This writing is true...the biggest deception hidden today from most is that Satan is not real...he is just a 'fantasy'; he is real and he is behind the inhumane things occurring worldwide....excellent writing also...thank you..10.

I recognise this place. It's a very accurate landscape, I might add. Oddly enough, I think it's comforting. Why? Well, everyone who's there thinks he's alone - this poem might create in others a sense of shared struggle. A very fine write, great imagery.

'I am not wrapped in love/I'm hidden in plain view' Uriah, those are some great lines. As the slightly chippier Mary Poppins would say - 'Practically perfect in every way.' Hugs Anna xxx

Very finely crafted. When the heart feels bleak it feels that there is no beauty in the world. Touching.

Uriah, This poem has touched me deeply. I have had a very tragic, personal loss recently, and as fate would have it this was written just the day after it happened - and I'm not ashamed to say that as I read this poem I had tears streaming down my face. I have tried so hard to be strong for everyone else's sake, but this poem gave me the permission to cry, and for that I thank you. Your friend, Shannon xoxo
