Scented Rice Poem by Kumarmani Mahakul

Scented Rice

Rating: 5.0

Sorted and scented rice we love,
Farmers of India give varieties,
Many varieties are in verge of extinction,
But we are trying to retrieve,
Without rice we cannot live
As this is the best food of mainstream,
This ode is given to scented rice,
Aromatic falvour motivates mind.

There are different varieties,
Aromatic rice gives us hope
Let us chant different names one by one,
Karpurkanti comes in first choice,
Barangamoti blooms in flavour,
Basnasapuri is loved by people,
Basnaparijit is cooked in love,
Dubraj also gives nice aroma,
Sorisaphula Rice motivates mind,
Basmati is falvour of India
Radhuni pagol can immensely motivate,
Govinda bhog is offered to Lord,
Cak Hao Amubi is liked by many,
Mushk bhdji has greater texture,
Seerafa Samba smiles for miles,
Ambemohar adores Godly wisdom,
Texmati teaches us values a lot,
Tulaipanji can predict future dish,
Tulsimala is ever liked for worship,
Jeerakasala fetches more love,
Chanting each name we chant God's name!

New days are coming and change is seen,
But no one can forget aromatic rice,
Once a man takes this rice
He loves it to take everyday,
But costly rice tastes costly alike,
Short grain rice is loved by all,
Fragrance of cocked rice travels more,
All the names are beyond Basmit Rice,
And other varieties give precious scent,
God has gifted these grains of rice
To us to convey his wonder,
We love to cook in our kitchen,
Amazing aroma meets God and make us meet,
All festivals are enriched by scented rice!

Hard work by the agriculturist pays off finally, it is the scent of their hard work, labor and dedication to produce and serve. We eat Basmati rice by enjoying its flavor and aroma sitting in our air conditioned dinning hall whereas they slog under the sun, wet land and full hardship. Your poem is a tribute to their hard work and labor. Brilliant thinking....Salute to your keen observation.100*****

Rice is the staple food of Indians! Rice with curry is preferred to most other foods by us. Only by reading your poem, I have come to know that there is such a wide variety among rice grains! In our place.. i.e Kerala, they may be known by other names. Basmati rice is aromatic and is preferred by most people, especially in making fried rice and 'biriyani'! Loved reading your poem. Very informative!

Nice ode to rice. The varieties you list out are special to Kalinganadu, your State. Some of them like Samba (Champa) Jeerakasala are known to Kerala also. Good poem. 'Annam Na Nindhyaad'. Thus goes the Vedic saying- meaning every consumable is God's gift. Rice, for we Indians, is the prime symbol of 'ANNAM' 5 stars

I wouldn't have known of so many varieties of rice, had I not read this informative poem of yours, Kumarmani. Thanks for describing them all. I remember, in our childhood we used to go to our village home from the city we lived in, every December, when the schools used to give us long vacations after the year-end exams. My grandma used to grow and keep a small quantity of Basmati rice only for us, which we used to relish.

are all the flavoured rice scents still to buy? Several aims, the gods in the temples except own daily food for human stomach. A very complete arsenal of digestive delicious rice, what a wealth, what a richdom! I have enjoyed a very lot this very interesting poem. fantastically worded.5 Stars Full Vote! I only know Basmati rice to eat and Jasmine scented rice, all white rice. Indonesia has one rice product which is the best in the world in quality, its name is Cianjur rice, the name of its area.
