Massive your roots
sunk underground
where all at last anchor
to re-berth with their ancestors; trunk
gigantic, millennia-tested, leaves myriad
shade all underneath, space-ward heads-
a monument in plant, no skyscraper
could ever reach your evolutionary
peak or any kingdom your height, merged
in the unseen.Awe-struck is my soul
as I sense my essence
telepathically
immortal as yours
clad in form stand among transitory
things of time, is governed
by the same force that maintains
and determines your survival
and extinction.
I would love to come to yr country and see this. It seems that you caught the essence of the trees Bravo!
the poet resides in Mauritius, dear LeeAnn, the tree you can find in most national parks in the USA, I have seen them there, huge, very huge and most huge, all are amazing wonders of nature, very old, very huge and stillstanding on the ground, in the earth to LIVE
The power of nature. The trees which witness the times pass by. The roots, our ties to our ancestors. Thank you for a wonderful poem!
