Talking To Neruda's Ghost

After reading 'Poet's Obligation' by Pablo Neruda

Often with a shoal of baby fish turning near,
I feel the tide swollen with life. And then I start
up to write, Neruda. I want to write poems
tight as dew-freshened cabbages or as a page
turner. Not the ones to be mindlessly picked up
when the mind is elsewhere. My loneliness is to
