The Tree Of Joyce Kilmer
Like Joyce Kilmer,
I would never see
"A poem as lovely as a tree".
A tree is a sweet poem,
A melodious song,
And an eternal melody of the woods!
The tree lifts her leafy hands up to the sky,
With her branches spread wide and high,
Ever praising and praying to God!
Where can the feathered beings rest?
Except on trees in their grassy nest?
The safest haven to rest, flourish and fly!
The little birds protect
Their tiny offsprings covered
By twigs, grass and leafy carpets.
Kilmer says: "Only Gods and angels
Write about trees." I fully agree with the Poet.
Likewise, whom am I,
A stupid fool to write a book on trees?

This wonderful poem resonates with me. I was made to recite this poem when I was in Grade V in one of our school programs. I always love trees. They are the most generous of all living things.
