When you walk,
Walk with mindfulness!
Touch the earth with gratefulness,
Thank the Mother Earth with graciousness,
Feel the brown mud under your feet,
Feel the green grass as you walk,
Remember your parents and the loved ones,
Remember your ancestors and their goodness,
Energize your body with fresh air from the hills,
Enjoy the little wonders of nature, all around you.
Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us:
'When we walk, we are not walking alone.
Our parents and ancestors are walking with us.
They are present in every cell of our bodies.
So, each step that brings us healing and happiness
Also brings healing and happiness to our parents and ancestors.
Every mindful step has the power to transform us
And all our ancestors with us,
Including our animal, plant and mineral ancestors.
We don't walk for ourselves alone.
When we walk, we walk for our family
And for the whole world.'
Let us walk with mindfulness,
Let us walk with thankfulness,
Each step with dignity,
Each step with grace,
With reverence, for a
Wonderful life on earth.
