Ali, there is a really profound undercurrent here. Could it be that much, if not all, we do is to distract us from the possibility of hearing life tick by.....? A great poem. Very thought provoking.

Life is is in own way and living is in another way and both proceed in parallel manner. We hear sound of clock in tick tock manner and this amazes mind. Wonderful poem this is really.10

I return to this absolute gem...It is timely now (perhaps it always is!) to remind oneself that living must not be confused with being alive!

Before we get enough time to mix life and living, time ticks away never waiting to see our efforts completed....! Terse and beautiful....!

A great short poem. So much depth in brevity.

Life ticks on.Every second is valuable. We try our best to make life meaningful- - - - our moments living- - - Some moments we may be living, some moments we may not be living. An excellent write with brevity of words, thanks for sharing.

Remarkably effective- -it ticks, it ticks...it ticks- - -with the choice of the right words and then the placement of those words- -indeed the placement was everything in bringing out the nagging emptiness in the room, in the life- - -the kind of word choice and placement and repetition one sees Poe use. Most excellent write. Brevity rules! ! ! ! 10++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ onto my fav list
