Banyan O! Banyan!
Beautiful you look!
Bountiful you bestow!
Bonding with you! O!
Banyan Tree! I am
Bewitched and enthralled!
Benign you stand with dignity!
Below the tall mountains and hills,
Between long stretches of sugar cane fields!
You are my true teacher! O beloved Banyan!
You teach me to look down with humility,
You teach me to remain grounded and rooted,
You teach me to sing with a silken voice of silent notes,
You teach me to seek God through your divine presence.
Hi, Geeta! Only in the period of my life as a young man living on Hawaii’s Big Island did I get to see a banyan tree. They are unique, so unlike any other tree I’ve seen up close. They deserve a song! -Glen
Thank you for writing this! ! ! You teach me to look down with humility, You teach me to remain grounded and rooted, You teach me to sing with a silken voice of silent notes, You teach me to seek God through your divine presence.- - - - - - -perfect words, my dear!
There are great lessons to learn from Banyan trees, they are all useful to everyone, I remember taking a swing across the roads and climbing straight to reach the stems. They are huge in size but humble and well grounded, they provide great place to take rest (for travellers) they live and see many generations. A brilliant poem on Banyan tree which is not very often seen near city life.10+++
O bargad O bargad k peD tum kitnay khhobsoorat ho khoobsoorti apni pradaan kartay ho wah doctor ji, wah wah!
Thank you Ravi for your beautiful translation in Hindi.
Man has only two arms, from one hand it takes and from the other he gives. A Banyan tree has so many arms, so many hands for giving only, like the ancient Mata Shakti, the source of all other Gods.
P.S. Geeta, another unique tree for me is the baobab which I have yet to see. Madagascar strikes me as a particularly interesting travel destination. -Glen
Madagascar sounds to me interesting too. A good holiday plan. :)

This is such a beautiful poem which brings into focus the divinity that surrounds us all, the beauty that dwells in our heart and soul and seen in the bounties of nature. This exquisite portrayal of Banyan tree comes with its majestic presence as seen through the eyes of a keen beholder. Thanks for sharing this amazing poem, Geeta ji. You teach me to look down with humility, You teach me to remain grounded and rooted, You teach me to sing with a silken voice of silent notes
Rajnish ji, So good to see your beautiful review of the banyan tree. Absolutely, we need to be aware of the divinity surrounding us.
