Two Shadows Poem by Valerie Dohren

Two Shadows

Rating: 5.0

I saw two shadows walking
Yet I was there alone -
Two shadows softly drifting
As I walked on my own.

Two shadows in the sunlight
Two shadows there with me -
As I turned round to see them
One mine, the other he.

But he was not there with me
Not there, not by my side,
Yet still two shadows lingered
Though long ago he died.

I saw two shadows walking
Upon that lovely day –
I saw one softly drifting
Then slowly fade away.

A comfort in a shadow is our way of getting through our grief. No matter the the time of day or whatever the reason we find solace in these shadows. Very comforting.

Your words bring chills to me. Such beauty you describe. Our hope is to one day be with those shades that fade from our conscienes and understanding.

Heart touching poem, gentle sadness touching me from the shadows of another dimension. Always able to show love through the reflection of a shadow walking alongside you. Wonderful poem. I too, have written of shadows in different contexts. Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn

Sad and beautiful. Perhaps we are all but shadows.

A lovely imagery being penned. May be earthily he, your love is not there, but in the shadows (in another world) he is very well belonging with you and will always remain with you.... heartfelt
