Up At Midnight Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

Up At Midnight

Rating: 5.0

I let my coffee grow cold
And my cigarette burning down to the filter
Nothing is helping to forget about you
I light another cigarette and pour another coffee
But my tears keep descending in my mug
All I can do is wish upon the morning stars
That shines brightly during early morning darkness
And then return to bed curling up
With yr favorite song
As the weeping falls onto my pillow

I wish I did not feel every word but I do, the yearning to want someone whos not there. Your heart is made for art, thank you for sharing.

LeeAnn, your very sad poem reminds me of Cigarette and Coffee Blues by Lefty Frizzell. Please check out to see what I mean. You've perfectly captured the essence of bittersweet love, my friend. Giving you my empathy.

some nights indeed are like this. Listening to songs, relating to the lyrics and emotionally be in the neverland of ifs and buts. All the while bracing ourselves of what's yet to come!

As the weeping falls on to my pillow..... great expression! Heartbreak can be really painful. The pangs of separation are well portrayed. I am sure time will heal the wounds. New beginnings are always possible. Great piece on bitterness of love.

The heartbreak of estrangement is well conveyed in these tender lines. Great writing.
