Butterflies Of True Love - Poem by Michael P. McParland
From when we very first met to this
very day the mere thought,
the very mention of your sweet name,
the memory of your sweet voice
and the memory of you still gives me
butterflies throughout my whole body
of excitement and joy,
of being with my Angel so good.
From when we first met to this very day
you still give me butterflies and blow me away.
Every time I would see you I wanted
to just drop everything and run to you
and just hug you and say how happy I was to see you,
but I was so shy awkward and young
and I was afraid I'd embarrass you and make you uncomfortable,
so I would calm and contain those butterflies
as much as possible to be composed and normal
but I know you always saw through me,
hearing and seeing those excited and nervous
butterflies all through and around me.
That makes me smile and still even now
gives me the happiest butterflies in my heart.
From when we first met to the day I write this
and well beyond it I'll love you sweet Kira
and get butterflies wherever you are in anything.
I love you my darling and want to show
and celebrate those butterflies with you forever and ever.
Kira from the day I even first saw you
there was a stirring and fluttering as there
was something special about the girl
in the next row over in math class,
I didn't know what just yet but the wings
of butterflies true love had begun to flutter and flex
sensing something special ahead and ever since
you have given me butterflies filled with true love
every single day of my life and I want
to spend eternity getting that feeling by seeing you
and holding you as my beloved wife,
I want you to know and see these butterflies within me.
Kira I love you so very much and you fill me
with such light and joy,
you give me hope in a world so very dark
by sharing your loving light and kind heart.
I can't imagine how life would have been or how
it could be without you to reach out to and take hold,
life would be empty without these butterflies within me.
Kira I'm sending you some of these butterflies
bearing sweet kisses and warm hugs filled with my love,
I'll always adore and cherish you and I promise my love
I'll forever stick by you and be you faithful loving Michael.
