He is the perfect gentleman
Well-trained in courtesy
Considerate, and helpful
Treats me like a lady
And I enjoy his company,
But when the day is through
I face a sad reminder
That he's not you.
He's here; you're not- - that's plain to see
Though I still want you near
It's you I miss, for whom I care
You are to me so dear
And even though his friendship
Is wonderful and new,
That distant aching in my heart
Reminds me he's not you.

{{{Louis}}}! ! ! It's wonderful to hear from you! He doesn't exactly set my heart & mind free, but if you can't be with the one you want- - well, be with who you can. A friend certainly beats loneliness! As another poet stated earlier, loneliness often goes with the territory of being a poet. Take care. : -)
A sad reminder! ! ! Thanks for sharing this poem with us.
Thank you, Kostas, for giving my poem such a complimentary comment! : -)

Another little nugget from the poet who digs deep into her soul.
Thank you so much, Ray, for that sweet comment! Calling it a nugget and saying I dig deep sounds a bit like gold mining! : -)
