I Was Born... - Poem by Siyabonga A Nxumalo

I was born to be a dark horse,
Not a misfit.

I was born to be a hero,
Not a diffident.

I was born for triumph,
not to be trounced.

I was born to be peaceful,
Not fierce.
I was born to be ME.

once a neonate,
Now an adult.

once a nebbish,
Now a winner.

I was born to be humorous.
To love and treat kind,
To live,
To live in a friendly and
Safe environment.
I was born to be a friend.

I was born to be vigorous,
Not vulnerable.

I was born to be brilliant,
Not impulsive.

I was born to be a citizen
of the world.
I was born to be ME.

I was born to posses anything,
To deserve better things,
To be lucky,
To love and be loved,
To be free,
To be unique,
To be ME.
Irreplaceable ME.
Just me....

I was born to be ME.

How right you are dear Siya! Yes we were all born free. We are here to create beauty, meant to live in harmony, we can't do it if we can't be ourselves. Love and smiles,
    Elena.
