The sun has set on yet another day.
I am relaxed and at peace as,
I listen to the sounds of the night;
an owl’s mournful hoot,

very true we need not search for happiness...our true self is so full of it...man strives for sorrow...and he calls it development....a lovely thought in this whispering poem

Like many, I have a simple theory for happiness: finding it within myself. No formula. its always there. Time and circumstances change. Your happiness change with it. So far, so good. And then you get old. If you've learnt anything so far about happiness....it'll show...daily. Ability to live in dignity. And bouncing back... Importantly, happiness does not belong to the sages and superhumans. Its for all. Human foibles is a great dissolver of happinesss...... If you choose to live within the grasp of reality within your control....you are then in peace with yourself...... Cheers. Subroto

I release my body from my chair, collect my thoughts and things, to close, to make an end. Time to rest, to sleep, a time of recovery for happy days ahead.' This is a beautiful, inspirational write indeed! ! ! i hope, my days will lighten up soon sir... words of an angel indeed! ! ! yet i dont how i can get this feeling out of my head..'Life is but a walking shadow, tale told by an idiot signyfying nothing'.. this is said by Macbeth, when he sees his end! ! when his character was disintegrated.. may be i m a disintegrated character too! ! ! ... yet this site sort of helped to mend my pieces together! ! nice write sir 10++ with love shan .

Lovely! I needed to de-stress. Thank you. Yes, we don't need to search for happiness. It is all around us. We just need to open our eyes to everything, including, as you say, ourselves, and then reach out and give it first and touch it in all forms of people and nature and happenings and we will abound in happiness. When humanity reaches the level of civilisation of wild animals, what a wonderful world we will have!

Be happy in the morning with what you have. Be happy in the evening with what you are. Inbetween be happy with the many things mentioned here Bob - happiness is counting our blessings. Wonderful look outwards...thank you

happiness is a state of mind, within, not outside... living in the present moment, and trying to keep those voices from the past in the periphery of mind, not giving them attention- in other words living with awareness. such a beautiful poem to start my day with. I was seeing through your eyes and smiling. thanks Bob.10 Mamta

You words 'I reflect how we cannot search for happiness' recalls to to mind the following stanza of my own poem 'Happiness' - also posted on this site, on my own page. 'However long, however far- spreading your quest may be, too many are, too tiny are the splingers all for you to see' This poem begins as follows: 'Happiness perhaps once had features of a single, compact whole; but countless are the craving creatures praying God some bliss to dole. HE therefore must have sadly shattered Happiness into many a bit and had the pieces widely scattered to give all a glimpse of it.' You are worried not only about your own happiness but of the happiness of poor and needy folk such as the fishermen, and have described well how they have to toil for the sake of two square meals a day. Very noble sentiments. Ten again.

This poem began almost like my poem MY DARK NIGHTS. But mine goes into gloom, while ur poem runs like gentle flow of a river runs with ease. I read it as if I was watching a good movie. I could visualize the scene, u sitting in the chair musing over.......it is just a great experience only few poems can bestow.......Thanks....10. I remember if time permits pl. take a look at my old poem DILETTANTISH HUNGER.

I liked the first part, before the break. The hoot of an owl, the fire settling in the grate, guitar music, and the sounds of waves on the shore. Idyllic. Who could ask for more? Lovely, Bob. Love, Fran xxx
