My Valentine is motley fool,
His cap studded with wisdom jewel;
He is seen in dual mood,
It swings between the kind & cruel.

This is a sobering write for a Valentine's Day. I happen to love this day, so I am a little down after reading this. But this only serves to remind me of those who are constantly down on all days of the year. It is well that I read this. GW62

An eloquent, sobering rememberabnce of a day, most usually encaptured with much spirited romp...I find this piece to be quite apropos to what our world is currently experiencing, while we do our damndest to blink hard & hope that it's all just a surreal daydream...Fine Work, indeed, C.P. Giving a little thought to our lives and that of others is certainly a good idea. So much wasted by some and needed by others. Irene

I thank you for the wisdom. How many chase the carrot on the stick and stumble over like the Motley Fool in the end.

Good to present Valentine in a pensive mood C.P, - - and I loved the phrase 'slow the self-amassing wheel ' - - therefore the 'unprivileged might get some of those roses' - - very well argued and point taken to heart by this reader...... best wishes from Fay. with a 10

Well, this is an unusual take on what for some, romantics and lovers, mostly, is a festive and joyous holiday, C. P. However, the considerations you raise in this interesting poem are certainly good ideas and suggestions, not only for the Valentine's Day observance, but for every day of the year. The United Nations, which has done much, but never enough for the poor and starving of the world, should re-double their efforts in all of the aid to the poor people around the world and stop embroiling themselves in petty politics. Your poem is well written and very expressive. Perhaps if someone should read it to that august assemblege, they may get the hint that there is far more they can do for the world than what they have done so far. Thank you for this great poem. Carl.

You put your finger just on the pain area. Humanity will suffer more from the free hands of greed and globalization where it isn't rules of morale but the rules of market and monopoly.
