Grandchildren are such a blessing
to an old man like me.
There is nothing better
than spending time with a grandchild
and teaching life's lessons
or even learning one yourself.
I have learned a lot from my grandchildren,
but the other day I got the chance
to teach a grandson a little lesson.
The weather has been wonderful
for November here in Durango lately.
My grandson is twenty-one years old
and a star athlete at the local college.
We were at a local golf course
and my grandson's next shot
was blocked by a tall pine tree
between him and the green.
"How do you think I should play this? "
he asked me. "Left or right of the tree? "
I said, "Well, when I was your age,
I could hit that ball right over that tree
and onto the green! "
"Well, then, " he said, "if you could
do it, so can I! " He lined up his shot
and took a mighty swing. The ball
smacked into the upper part of the tree
and rolled right back to his feet.
"Of course, " I added, "When I was
your age, that tree was only five feet high! "
This is beautiful poem of lessons. Indeed there are many such moments with grandchildren and grandparent's treasured moments. Nicely pictorized. Thank-you. Full scire.
Ha! Very funny, Ron! I have heard this joke a few times before, but nobody has ever told it as well as you did!
Your story was so entertaining. It had me wondering if your grandson would actually hit the ball over the tree. That's a gorgeous picture, by the way. Best wishes.
Hahaha, great one Cowboy! Thanks for the gift of cheer.... and wisdom!
I love the ending. I think Trump would have a secret service agent kick it around the tree for him, and maybe into the hole to boot! ! : ) bri

Thanks to all who have commented. It would be nice if comments would show up immediately like they used to do, and I could reply to them as soon as they are posted.

I would like to translate this poem
Well told and cleverly presented. But the story is a " Mulligan" , have heard it many times before.
