Memory Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

Memory

Rating: 5.0

(dedicated to the memory of my friend, Mr.Shimon Weinroth)

a voice from heaven
you heard
saying unto you
for you rest from your labors

suffer you not
at your last hour
deliver you not into
bitter pains of eternal death

a short time to live
it were a shadow
is cut down
like a flower

God gave
God hath taken away
we can carry nothing out
we brought nothing into this world

though they were dead
whosoever liveth and
believeth in God
shall never die

let perpetual light shine upon
do not fall into darkness
lead into the holy light
grant everlasting rest

(he passed away on December 9,2008)
