Once A while! / Kabhi Toh!
Once A While!
Once a while when you see me
Just give me a pleasant smile
I am your dear neighbour
Please do ask my name once at least!
I stay just two houses away from you.
I too live in the same world, where you live.
Once a while when you see me
Just give me a pleasant smile
Please do ask my name once at least!
Unsure of how many days we would be neighbours.
Sure enough, we may have to pass,
through the same street once a while.
Once a while when you see me
Just give me a pleasant smile
Please do ask my name once at least!

Kabhi Toh!
Kabhi toh dekh kar hum ko
Muskuraah toh dijiyey
Hum aap hi Kay padosi hain
Kabhi toh Humara naam pooch ljiyey!
Reh thae hain hum aapkey
Do ghar aagey
Hum Wohin zamaney mein
Reh thae hain
Jis zamaney aap reh thae ho!
Kabhi toh dekh kar hum ko
Muskurah toh dijiyey
Kabhi toh Humara naam pooch ljiyey!
Kitney din hum is mohalley mein hain
Yeh toh hum na jaaney
Kabhi na kabhi toh
Humein ek hi gali say gujarna pad saktha hai
Kabhi toh dekh kar hum ko
Muskurah toh dijiyey
Kabhi toh Humara naam toh pooch ljiyey!

This is the irony of cosmopolitan towns, we don't know name of our neighbors. An impressive and beautiful poem.
New society is self content they can see but not speak, , Tongue is caged..when they will be in need some day they will come and say Hi, Sorry livin' here for long acquainted yet not known well composed poem that pelted on the said culture thank you Geetha
A smile makes the day pleasant. A smile and some exchange of words will go in turning the life pleasant. I enjoyed both English and Hindi versions with a smile. Thank you.
A lovely poem. In urban settings a sense of detachment in so prevalent it doesn't escape the eyes. your poem expresses so very well.
we love this life following the soul of God- he blessed us with smiling face but love to hide Once a while when you see me Just give me a pleasant smile Please do ask my name once at least! just once to smile...
Geetha - your this poem is an eye opener declaring to the society or to humanity as how mean and self centered we became! ! ! We are so much isolated that don't feel to know or mix with the next door neighbor even forget the society or other bigger platforms. Very nicely you unzipped the pants of those neighbor who are of this nature (I believe they are very many) . Thank you Geetha for using this sugar coated saw in this poem.
Will it be not possible they both became the traveller of the same street. A very pleasant and soothing write.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
