I shed my life in flowing Tears
extinguished fire of heart
I quenched my thirst by drinking them
and shed my all complaints
Oh Life, now what to say to you
these Tears are ample reason to live
if there were no tears,
the life would mean differently
neither I nor you would exist
then life would be a wilderness
then tears are the vital signs of life
which is made fertile by these tiny drops!

Tears are life. Nice translation. I also read the original. Thank you.
My life was pure tears when I was young, even I picked up later sad-sad books, I heard sad stories, but now I feel I do not need it anyway. I just have tears in my eyes when an ambulance or the police car is passing with that horrible sound, which remind me for the bombings and the dead bodies around. OK, I cry sometimes when I am very happy. Very interesting. Beautiful poem.

Tears have the power to purge and purify! Excess emotions are let out through tears, be it joy or pain! A great poem.... A wonderful translation! !
Tears are just as important as laughter - they are part and parcel of human emotion, and show that we are indeed alive.

There are many tears. Tears of joy, tears of love, tears of pain, tears when your young child falls over, tears when your child graduates from college, tears when your child gets married, tears when a loved one dies. A lovely poem Shahzia.
