    Andrej Khadanovich (born 1973 in Minsk, Belarus) is a poet, philologist and translator of French, Ukrainian and Polish literature. He graduated from the faculty of philology in Minsk and is working as a teacher of history of French literature.

    Andrej Khadanovich's poetry combines modern elements of the urban dialect with the variety of the Belarusian language and is rich in stylistic experiments. Khadanovich is a member of the Union of Belarusian writers and of the Belarusian PEN Center, of which he is the chairman since 2008.

Weihnachten an der Wein- und
Schnapsbrennerei. Dezember nach Ortszeit.
Die Madonnen stampfen sich wund
die Füße im Winterlicht kilometerweit

auf den unwegsamen Fußwegen
mit Linden auf beiden Seiten.
Da kommt Kaspar uns langsam entgegen,
wie der hinkende Teufel beizeiten,

da kommt Balthasar mit Brezeln,
da kommt Melchior mit Milchkanne -
und den Madonnen zum Spott
schleppt er eine mickrige Tanne.

Uns ewiger Schneematsch,
wir werden uns eine Grippe holen.
