Ravishing Hibiscus,
Radiating power,
Reaching out to the Almighty,
Revealing its true beauty,
Rich in colour and content
Royally waiting to be adorned!
Five silky petals
Facing the Sun,
Fantastic in form,
Flame like deep red,
Fearless awesome yellow,
Fitting tribute to the super power!
A long delicate pistil,
Arising from a dark maroon centre,
Adorned with a cluster of stamens,
Angelic yellow pollen dust,
An array of colours- red, yellow, pink and white
Attractive Shoe Flower!
Hides nothing - reveals all
Holding the calyx, corolla, stamen and pistil,
Head up in a graceful slant,
Healing powers,
Herb that can add a flaming zeal to
Hypnotise and command!
The flower that bestows strength,
The flower that gives confidence,
The flower that sings the women's power,
The flower that creates aesthetic values,
The flower of worship and prayer,
The flower of the beautiful Goddesses! !
It is wonderfully written Geeta. I am not usually a plant person but when you write about them I feel love for these flowers and love for nature. Thank you.
Not being a plant person, still, you have taken the trouble to read the poem. So generous of you.! Once you attune yourself to Nature - flowers or trees, you can really feel the divine presence. Thank you Ayman.
I must confess that I learn so much from reading your poems - about Buddhism, Indian history and cultural heritage... Thanks for sharing your beautiful thought provoking poems.
